Do you accept insurance?

Bridgefield Counseling, LLC is a private pay only counseling service, as health insurance is not accepted. To understand why, below are six (6) important reasons it may be in the best interest of clients to pay for services directly, rather than use insurance:

  1. Privacy – One of Bridgefield Counseling values is to protect the information you share with him as he understands it to be private. By not accepting insurance and ensuring your privacy is kept 100% confidential, especially from health insurance companies. There are some exceptions to confidentiality, which are explained in detail on the consent forms sent to you prior to sessions and given again during your intake session.

  2. Control – There is limited control you have with insurance companies on what is approved and what you’re approved for.

  3. Limited – Many times, insurance will give you a limited selection of generalist providers. As a relationship licensed professional counselor, you’re getting specialized treatment for specific issues and needs.

  4. Waiting List – There can be longer waitlists for therapists who accept insurances because the demand for therapy is high. If you need immediate care, private pay is a way to start counseling sooner.

  5. Frequency – If you want to have more freedom on how often you attend counseling, private pay is more beneficial. Oftentimes insurance providers will cap how many sessions you can have and frequency.

  6. Diagnosis – It is mandatory for therapist to provide a mental health diagnosis when using insurance as payment for services. Therapists must diagnosis and submit your diagnosis to the insurance company. Instead of diagnosing unless necessary, we focus on your struggles and challenges instead.

Do you offer free consultations?

For clients that request a free consultation, I can provide that. However, most of my clients are ready to book without a consultation and this isn’t required to book a counseling session with me.

What is your cancellation policy?

I offer a 24 hour free cancellation, otherwise the full session fee is due.

How do I book and a session and get started?

To get started, contact me here. I will get back to you within the same business day to get you scheduled.

Do you offer same day or week appointments?

I typically keep a few open spots during the week for new clients who are ready to schedule. When booking sessions, clients reserve one spot each week during the same date/time for consistency.

What does a first therapy session look like?

In your first session whether individual or couple, we will go over your current problems you’re facing, goals for therapy and for me to get to know you and your needs.
